It’s Going to be a Magnificent Weekend!

Thanks for coming out to the Nomad World Pub tonight! What a gorgeous night for what feels like a great kick-start to the weekend and summer ahead.

In reference to ‘ahead’, I’m looking VERY forward to attending our Minnesota Jaycees – Spring Convention, which is held in Grand Rapids, MN this weekend. The long road trip north will be entertaining as I get to ride along with board members, Kate Shannon & Sara England. By the time we reach our destination, I’m sure we’ll have the world’s problems figured out as well as what artist sings which song on the radio. Ahh… it will be fun! With all kidding aside, the Convention is a really great experience to talk with other Jaycee members around the state, see the deserving awards that chapters have won, attend a few trainings, and participate or watch Individual Development competitions in Speak-up or Debate. I’ll try my best to keep www.facebook.com/stpauljaycees updated with the latest information and pictures from Friday to Sunday.

If this weekend didn’t work with your schedule to join us, know that the next state Convention will be in September in Rochester. I highly encourage you to ask me more questions and to think about attending. I promise that you’ll have fun and won’t regret the experience!

State conventions are an opportunity for members and chapter leaders, from around the state, to gather and share ideas, network, recognize the outstanding accomplishments of leaders around the state, and have fun! The weekend is packed full of networking, training, business meetings of the state organization, and awards.

We really need your help! We’re looking for 100 volunteers to help with ID’ing, putting on wristbands, and pouring beer at all of the different beer vendor stations! By volunteering, you not only get a free t-shirt, but you also get to enjoy talking to the attendees, vendors, and listening to the l ive music! Volunteers are needed from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Aquafina® Major League Baseball® Pitch, Hit and Run™Competion

The Saint Paul Jaycees have partnered with the Saint Paul Saints for this year’s Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run event. This is a FREE, 1-day event for boys and girls ages 7-14. Boys and girls will compete separately and have the opportunity to compete in four levels of competition including Locals, Sectionals, Team Championships and the National Finals at the MLB All-Star Game at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, MO. A few Saints players will also be on hand to help with the event.

When: Saturday, May 12 @ 8:00 AM

Ballroom Magic

We support local high schools in promoting respect for self and others in its student community through ballroom dancing. Ballroom dancing competitions take place in front of friend, family and peers. The Jaycees provide a positive environment to show these competitions as well as fund the instructors for their passion and time.

Timberwolves Game with Dugsi Academy

This is the exciting moment where we all gather with the artists, their families, and teachers while the Saint Paul Jaycees showcases and presents the ”Best 100 art pieces” and awards for various categories. Beverages and hors d’oeuvres will be provided.

Dress Attire: You’ll see a mixture from Business Casual to Black Tie attire.

The Les Farrington Best 100 Juried Art Exhibition invites Saint Paul area high school art students, grades 9 through 12, to submit their original artwork for competition to be judged by a panel of three jurors from the art community. The Best 100 pieces will be publicly exhibited in the AZ Gallery from March 9th-31st, 2012.

This juried exhibition is one of the only non-school sponsored opportunities for students interested in art to compete against their peers. It is an exciting experience for everyone involved and is only possible with your cooperation, guidance, and hard work. Thank you in advance for your participation, enthusiasm, dedication, and preparation of the students for this special event.

Road-run with South St. Paul Jaycees

Description:

We need to help our friendly, South St. Paul Jaycees neighbors by assisting them with their “St. Patrick’s Day Food Drive.” We’ll help by placing food donation bags on the doors of every South St. Paul residence. On March 17th, the bags that contain food will be picked up and donated to a select food shelter. This will be a fun and great way to help the community in need!
